The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) has released data showing that the number of women electing to get their faces lifted increased by 14 percent, and the number of men increased by 16 percent.
Breast augmentation surgery grew by 14 percent among women, while an additional 8 percent of men opted for pectoral implants.
Most people notice the face and upper body first, so experts were not surprised by the findings.
Dr. Richard d’Amico, president of ASPS, was not surprised to learn that men and women chose plastic surgery for those areas that are subject to immediate and intense focus from others.
Dr. d’Amico was not surprised that more than 90 percent of plastic surgery procedures are performed on women and only 9 percent on men; he described the rate of increase among men and women as "interesting."
