Patients at London’s Princess Grace Hospital now have access to a corrective surgical procedure called kyphoplasty to treat spine problems.
The procedure, which involves the surgical insertion of a small balloon into the vertebrae, is used to treat vertebral compression fractures and the spinal deformities that follow.
The balloon is inflated, creating a space for doctors to inject a hardening agent. The compound repairs the break and returns the vertebra to its normal shape, relieving the patient’s discomfort.
The kyphoplasty surgery is minimally invasive, allowing some patients to return to their lives with very little postoperative rehabilitation.
Elliot Ewhare, production specialist for Kyphon Industries, says many patients can get back to their daily routine quickly, and the alleviation of pain improves the quality of their lives.
The Princess Grace Hospital, a very well-equipped private institution near London’s Harley Street, provides patients high-quality care for a variety of treatments.
