Young men and women between the ages of 18 and 24 are more likely than not to have a positive attitude toward cosmetic surgery, according to a recent study.
The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) reports that nearly 70 percent of young adults feel favorably about cosmetic surgery, and increase of 7 percent from 2006.
Only 41 percent of adults over 65 have a favorable attitude toward surgery.
It is not surprising that young people have a largely favorable view of cosmetic surgery, according to Dr. Foad Nahai, president of ASAPS.
People growing up today know friends and family who are very frank about their cosmetic surgery procedures, both those they have done and those they plan. In the past, people believed that only movie stars and wealthy women had plastic surgery.
The survey indicates that over 75 percent of men and women would not feel uncomfortable if other people discovered they had cosmetic surgery.
