Breast Reduction

Other great advancements in cosmetic and plastic surgery have been made in the field of breast reduction.

Consciousness of an over-large breast, together with the natural inherent discomforting features often associated with large breasts, such as severe back or shoulder pain, posture strain, restrictive movement and lack of self-esteem caused by embarrassment at the condition, lead many more modern women to seek remedial plastic surgery in order to attain a firmer or more uplifted bust appearance.

Apart from improving the overall figure by balancing the proportions of the body, breast reduction surgery can often relieve the stress and pain caused by carrying the extra weight of an overly developed bust.

The usual procedure for this type of plastic surgery is as follows: The surgeon carefully removes any excess of fatty tissue and skin, and then remoulds the breast to the shape and size requested by the woman at the in-depth pre-surgical interview.

Part of the operation will involve the realignment of the nipple and the pigmented circular area around the nipple, so as to maintain the natural overall appearance of the breast.

The resultant plastic surgery is then usually monitored for one or two days, after which time the patient will be allowed home. Recovery rates can vary, but usually the dressings and stitches can be removed within two weeks. The plastic surgeon will also advise abstinence from rigorous exercise for a few months, and advise the patient to continue wearing a specialised supportive bra until full recovery is complete.
