Thigh and Buttock Lift plastic surgery is performed in order to remove excess or sagging skin from the area of the thigh and buttock, which is often caused by a build up of cellulite after extreme weight loss.
This type of surgery usually results in achieving much firmer, smaller and more attractive thighs and improved buttock shape. However, because of the intricacy of the plastic surgery involved, which proceeds with an incision from the groin area through the line of the inner thigh to below the natural crease of the buttock, there may be some visible scarring.
Although scarring would be less visible in the higher area of the thigh, where it could be naturally hidden by clothing, the operation is likely to be more successful if performed lower down as more of the excess fat could be removed.
This plastic surgery procedure is usually performed under anaesthesia, and may take upwards of three hours to complete. However, hospitalisation does not usually extend beyond one night, and many patients are able to return home the same day.
As with most forms of extensive plastic surgery, some bruising and swelling may be present for several days. Any stitches or sutures should all be removed in a maximum of three weeks. Support garments are usually worn for the first few weeks to assist the healing process, and antibiotics will be prescribed to prevent any risk of infection.
Generally, full recovery takes up to three weeks, with post-operative monitoring visits required in between.
