Plastic Surgery Guide

Deciding to have Plastic surgery is a major decision and the results can be life changing. You are not alone in terms of this decision making process. Plastic Surgery List is here to help...

Plastic Surgery PatientIt is estimated that 75,000 operations involving cosmetic and plastic surgery are now being performed each year in the UK.

As the population continues to live much longer than ever before, the numbers, of both women and men who desire to remain healthier, younger and better looking is naturally increasing year on year.

Typical plastic surgery treatment requests can usually be divided into the following three categories: the correction of features considered as abnormal, which can include over prominent ears, nose, chin or breast, as well as surgery to correct an under-developed breast; the correction of features of ageing, including the elimination of facial wrinkles, baldness or thinning hair, skin stretching or tightening to eliminate sagging or drooping skin; and finally plastic surgery can be offered as an aid to reducing certain types of health problems, such as reducing cellulite, brittleness in hair and nails and some chronic types of skin problems. Much as these conditions may be genuinely distressing to the patient, none of them really come under the heading of chronic clinical disease. As with any type of surgery, it is recommended that candidates for plastic surgery should be in reasonably healthy condition prior to undertaking operations. They should also be fully aware that there may be discomfort for a while, dependent on the type of operation they may be undergoing. There may also be some inconvenience regarding a return to a normal life. And, of course, total medical risk cannot be entirely mitigated.

It’s also important to be realistic about the expectations of the surgery. No amount of cosmetic or plastic surgery can fundamentally change anyone’s life or give them the appearance of someone 25 years younger.
